KINGSTON, Jamaica – Members of the Jamaican Coast Guard are currently searching for a local vessel with 15 persons on board that has been missing since last Tuesday.
According to a report in the Jamaica Observer, the lobster fishing vessel – the Falling Star owned by Rainforest Seafoods was returning from dry routine maintenance overseas when it stopped sending tracking signals on Tuesday afternoon.
At the time it disappeared, the vessel was reportedly 30 miles west of Pedro bank.
The following day, the Jamaican coast guard was alerted to the situation, and the search and rescue operations got underway.
The local coast guard is assisted by counterparts from the United States, Cuba, Cayman Islands, and Honduras.
